About
Hello, I’m Joshua, and my journey through the tech world is anything but traditional.
I hail from the picturesque state of Connecticut, where I discovered my first passion – music. This led me to the doors of Shenandoah Conservatory, from where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Music Production & Recording Technology, with a focus in Classical Piano.
My love for music manifested not just in writing new melodies but in nurturing young minds. As a high school and middle school music teacher, I taught various instruments, and set students on bright paths towards creative careers in the recording studio. During this time, a genuine need arose – my students wished for a platform to share their musical creations. Always being up for a challenge, this set me on a path to rediscover my high-school fling with C++, and I plunged into the world of web development. My mantra was simple, “How hard could it be?”
I started falling in love all over again, this time with being able to craft experiences in the browser. Driven by dedication, I earned my second Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Western Governors University in just one semester. My capstone project was the very application my students envisioned.
However, my thirst for knowledge was unquenchable. Soon, I ventured deeper into the technological realm, exploring the intricacies of AWS, Docker, C++, JavaScript and Go. This dedication bore fruit when I joined Mosaic Learning as a Software Developer, then swiftly transitioned into DevOps. Now, I proudly lead as the Manager of DevOps. From migrating projects to Kubernetes, writing new applications in Go and Typescript, and contributing significantly to open-source projects such as Grafana Agent, Karpenter, NodeJS, and Terraform, I’ve worn many hats with equal aplomb.
Beyond my professional achievements, I pride myself on mentoring, innovating, and consistently meeting the complex demands of our evolving tech landscape.
Outside work, you might still catch me striking a tune on the piano, annoying my neighbors with banging drums, or venturing around downtown Austin.
